To be able to plan wheel maintenance work, one needs to know as exactly as possible the degree of wear on the wheel. Previously, this entailed time-consuming manual measurement of each individual wheel. However, only an experienced checker can determine from the profile checks at what point in time maintenance will be needed. Using the latest measuring techniques and data processing routines, drive-by checking can be undertaken, providing sound information on wear to date and, based on this, a sure indication on when maintenance will next be needed.
