Vor etwa 150 G?sten blickte VDEI-Pr?sident Prof. Dr.-Ing. Lothar Fendrich (Abb. 1) mit den Pr?sidiumsmitgliedern, dem Bundesvorstand und dem Beirat stolz auf 60-j?hriges Engagement zur beruflichen F?rderung der Mitglieder und vielseitigen Einsatz beim Ausbau des spurgeführten Verkehrs auf der Festveranstaltung am 11. Dezember in Duisburg zurück. Einleitend stellte er aus sechs Jahrzehnten Verbandsarbeit besonders diernAuswirkungen durch die Vereinigung der Eisenbahningenieurverb?nde aus Ost und West, die Einflüsse der ersten und zweiten Stufe der Bahnreform und die Erweiterung der Netzwerke durch die ?ffnung des VDEI heraus, die in gemeinsamer ehrenamtlicher Arbeit erfolgreich gelungen sind.%Addressing some 150 invited guests attending the commemorative event held in Duis-burg on 11th December 2009, the President of the Association of German Railway Engineers (VDEI), Prof. Dr.-Ing. Lothar Fendrich, on behalf of the members of the Association's Presidency, National Executive Committee and Advisory Council, proudly recalled the VDEI's commitment over the past 60 years to the professional advancement of its members and its wide-ranging engagement in the development of guided transport systems. He began by singling out from among the six decades of work of the Association the impact of the unification of railway engineering associations from East and West, the first and second stages of the railway reforms, and the extension of networks through the opening-up of the VDEI.
