FRANK SPALDING is an unsung hero of the RCMP. Back in 1972, in anticipation of the Forces 100th anniversary, Frank Spalding, Reg. No. 11745, 0.366, decided to publish a book of the cartoons he had drawn over the course of his career depicting life as he saw it in the RCMP The cartoons were an instant hit upon publication in the book "100 Years in the R.C.M.P Saddle! Or, Stop the Musical Ride, I want off!" Since then, the cartoons have since become widely known beyond the RCMP. For many people, Spalding's cartoons are as familiar a symbol of the RCMP as the Red Serge and Musical Ride.
