The use and manufacture of metham-phetamine is currently costing law enforcement, jails and the courts a lot of time and money. Governmental agencies are not alone in this epidemic—it also affects grocery stores, convenience stores and other retail establishments. This issue has expanded into the entire country. What can law enforcement do to make it more difficult to manufacture metham-phetamine? What can be done at the local level? The federal government and some states have worked on regulating the chemicals needed for the manufacturing of inethamphetamine. Ephedrine which is the main ingredient needed for the process, is not regulated, although it must be possessed to make methamphetamine.
