摘要

In an effort to better allocate recruiting resources, it is clear that college students are most likely to use Internet searches (94.8 percent), recommendations from college professors (86 percent), law enforcement agencies' websites (81.9 percent), word of mouth (81.9 percent), and calling and speaking to a departmental representative (68.9 percent) in their quest for criminal justice employment. Students indicated that they were "unlikely" to search for law enforcement jobs using Twitter (74 percent), Facebook (50.6 percent), job fairs (47.9 percent), radio (46.3 percent) or television (46 percent). As a general population, students are most likely to search for jobs immediately preceding or upon graduation. While there is not a huge differential between the genders when considering accepting a job offer in law enforcement, women were more concerned with the work schedule than men. Future research in this area is needed as a larger pool of respondents may provide an even clearer picture of how law enforcement agencies could better market openings.
