U.S. Attorney General Announces Initiatives to Reduce Violent Crime

In October 2017, U.S Attorney General Jeff Sessions announced several Department of Justice (DOJ) actions to reduce violent crime in the United States. One such action is the reinvigora-tion of Project Safe Neighborhoods, a program that has, in the past, been successful in bringing together all levels of law enforcement to reduce violent crime and make neighborhoods safer. In announcing the DOJ's recommitment to Project Safe Neighborhoods, Attorney General Sessions issued a memo directing U.S. attorneys to implement an enhanced violent crime reduction program that incorporates the lessons learned since Project Safe Neighborhoods launched in 2001.
