Waertsilae snaps up Vik-Sandvik

Waertsilae Corp has acquired Norwegian ship design group Vik-Sandvik, in a deal worth E∪D132 million, with an additional maximum sum of E∪D38 millions to be paid based on the performance of the business over the next three years. In 2007, Vik-Sandviks turnover was E∪D55 million and its number of employees now stands at 410. Waertsilae, which last year took over fellow ship design house Schiffko, of Germany, said that its latest move was a major step in its 'strategy to strengthen its position as a total solutions provider and to be the most valued partner for its customers.
