Shell, Dana Petroleum and LR Senergy have thrown their weight behind a newly established maritime network, which has been set up with the intention of attracting more women into the offshore oil and gas sector. Created to provide an independent forum in which both male and female offshore professionals can bounce around ideas and connect with mentors, the Aberdeen X-Industry Support (AXIS) network was formally launched in mid-September this year. Set against the current shortfall in qualified offshore oil and gas person personnel, creating new opportunities for women to access this sector could prove essential in plugging the gap, AXIS argues.
