Havyard has won a contract to design and build a 121m × 24m subsea inspection, maintenance and repair (IRM) vessel for an unspecified client. The forthcoming vessel, which is slated for delivery in Q2 2017, will be built to the specifications of Havyard Design & Solutions' 858 L WE design, the builder has announced. The contract is valued at approximately NOK700 million (USS84.6 million). The vessel will feature 1,500m~2 worth of deck area, an 8m x 8m moon pool and a 26m-diameter helideck, with onboard accommodation for 140 persons. Havyard intends to have the vessel classed to DP3 status. Deck equipment will include two cranes with 250tonnes and 30tonnes SWL capacities. Although engine installations are yet to be confirmed, the vessel should be capable of achieving a speed of 14knots. As well as engaging in IRM tasks, the vessel will be utilised for light construction work on subsea installations.
