CAD/CAM software provider and vessel designer SENER has unveiled a new multipurpose subsea support vessel concept. The modular concept would see the vessel adaptable for various offshore duties, including wind farm maintenance and floating turbine installations, as well as ROV support, in waters as deep as 4,000m. The proposed vessel would feature a length of 112.8m, a moulded beam of 22m and a depth of 9m, with a maximum draught of 7.25m. Power would be supplied, ideally, by IMO Tier Ill-rated four diesel-electric engines, so as to reduce emissions and fuel consumption levels, which would generate 4,220kW at 720rpm apiece. The propulsive arrangement would be complemented by two azimuth propellers (rated 3,500kW at l,200rpm each), two 1,500kW tunnel thrusters and an azimuth bow thruster, all of fixed pitch design. SENER hints that Voith might be selected to supply the propellers.
