The long march in container ships' ever-increasing size has been closely mirrored at Samsung by evolving technology to suit. At the end of 2002, the shipyard had delivered or had on order a total of 155 cellular hulls; the first vessels, a pair of 2200TEU designs, were handed over in 1994 to Hapag-Lloyd Aktiengesellschaft.
