New engine designs and concepts at CIMAC

Own-design models from Asian four-stroke enginebuilders were presented at the recent CIMAC congress in Kyoto, where progress with European steam-injected diesel and isoengine developments was also discussed. Doug Woodyard was in Kyoto for the event and reports. Keen to raise the own-content level in its deliveries, the world's most prolific shipbuilder - Hyundai Heavy Industries -continues to invest in developing a range of HiMSEN medium-speed engines, mainly to serve the auxiliary power demands of diverse tonnage types built at its facilities and other South Korean yards.
