Recent developments in helicopter handling systems

McTaggart Scott in the UK has confirmed that its Trigon deck handling system has been selected for the Lockheed Martin proposal for the US Navy's Littoral Combat Ship (LCS) proposal. Trigon is a simple traversing system, which has evolved over 40 years from a hydraulically controlled system to a computer-controlled system. In simple terms it pulls the helicopter out of the hangar to the flight deck and pulls it back in on completion of flying. It achieves this in a fully controlled manner without allowing any slide or topple. Originally designed to meet the requirements of the British Navy, more than 190 examples of Trigon have now been sold, to 22 navies worldwide.
