DCN provides more details of SMX-22 sub concept

DCN in France used the UDT Europe exhibition and conference earlier this summer to provide more details of its revolutionary submarine design concept, the SMX-22. The ambitious multi-role design concept is an atypical design in as much as it consists of three submarines linked together, including a larger, network-centric command submarine and two smaller high capability combat submarines. The three submarines can be used independently of one another, or as a single unit, having a wide range of missions including land attack, intelligence gathering, antisubmarine warfare, and supporting Special Forces. The larger submarine has a length of 84.3m, and a beam of 18.6m, with a surface displacement of 3,660 tons and diving depth of in excess of 250m.
