Sea Flyer trials gives X Craft technology a lift

The US Navy has successfully completed initial trials of a 160ft (48.76m), 340 ton technology demonstrator incorporating an advanced, underwater lifting boy developed by Navatek of Honolulu, Hawaii, of the type that will also he used on the US Navy's Littoral Surface Craft-Experimental (X Craft) high speed demonstrator, which is due to be launched in February and start trials in May-June (see elsewhere in this issue of Warship Technology). Trials of the Sea Flyer began last year in Hawaiian waters, and the craft is now approaching the completion of six months of trials during which it was due to participate in a number of demonstrations off the coast of California.
