Whereas speed and deadweight has traditionally been the subject of passionate discussion in the High Speed Craft (HSC) industry, sea-keeping is the new hot topic among operators and observers alike. Here are the thoughts of Gary Davidson and Tim Roberts of Tasmania's Revolution Design.rnA speed and deadweight target for highspeed craft has long been 40knots with l000tonnes deadweight. This has been the virtual Holy Grail for HSC. RevD/Incat set out to achieve this target and the current 112m wave piercing catamaran design is the result. A speed of 40knots and 1 000dwt is possible, depending on the hull and cabin arrangement.
