Agreement has finally been reached between state agency Sociedad Estatal de Participaciones Industriales (SEPI), what remains of shipbuilding group Izar, and the trade unions CCOO and UGT, signalling the winding up of the marine engine business of Spanish company Manises. Izar's Sestao, Seville, and Gijon shipbuilding facilities had found new homes by the end of 2006, respectively with Construcciones Navales del Norte, Astilleros de Huelva, and Factoria Vulcano, after the long-running European Commission probe into state subsidies resulted in the liquidation of the commercial part of the Spanish shipbuilding group, Izar.
