LR starts 250th anniversary celebrations with HHI delivery

Lloyd's Register (LR), the world's first classification society, recently celebrated 250 years of technical service to maritime shipping when Korea's Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI) delivered the first vessel of 2010 built to its class. Pichincha.a 105,000 dwt Aframax tanker, is the first LR-classed ship to be delivered in 2010. It is the second of two sisterships ordered by Equador's tanker operator Flota Pertrolera Ecuatoriana (Flopec) from HHI.
