Offshore refit for Damen Shipdock Amsterdam, and Damen expands in Sharjah

The ship, built to the Ulstein SZ124 design which features an X-bow hull form, was delivered comparatively recently, in 2010. Damen said that the refit is necessary so that the Polarcus Naila can be newly classified as a special purpose ship. Flip van der Waal, general manager, Shipdock, told The Motorship: "The reason behind the conversion is to improve the vessel's bollard pull and fuel efficiency. Increase in bollard pull allows for an upgrade to a full 12 streamer capability which improves efficiency during seismic survey activities."
