Ocean Signal launches MOB locating device

Communications and safety specialist Ocean Signal has launched what it claims is the most advanced and most comact man over board (MOB) locating device, the rescueME M0B1, incorporating both AIS and DSC technologies. The device, launched at Europort last month, also has an integrated strobe light with moulded lens to ensure the survivor is easily spotted in poor light conditions.The system is designed to easily integrate into inflatable life jackets, including those which are specifically developed for commercial use when heavy duty clothing or protective gear is being worn. At around 30% smaller than similar products, the rescueME M0B1 measures 134mm (height) by 38mm (width) by 27mm (depth) and weighs 90g. Operating within a temperature range of -20C and +55C, the rescueME M0B1 has a comprehensive self-test facility and a 7-year battery life. Ocean Signal also revealed the world's smallest personal locator beacon (PLB) at Europort, the rescueME PLB1. The SafeSea range includes the S100 SART, V100 VHF and E100G EPIRB.
