Rolls-Royce extends B33:45 engine range

Rolls-Royce Powersystems subsidiary Bergen is to extend its B33:45 medium-speed range with the addition of V-configuration engines, starting with a 12-cylinder unit to be delivered later this year. The B33:45V12P engine, currently under production at the company's plant in Norway, is the first step in a family extension that will expand the power range from 3.6MW for the six-cylinder inline engine to 12MW for the planned V20 variant. The company declined to disclose the identities of two owners in discussions for placing the first unit, but noted that it had received interest from the fishing segment. The engine will be ready for delivery by the third quarter of the year.
