The new 90,000-sq ft Hudson Valley Transportation Management Center (HVTMC) in Hawthorne, N.Y., is nearing completion, a function of an uncommon strategic partnership. Yet teamwork is not the only story. Indeed, the HVTMC, which will house both the Hudson Valley's Intelligent Transportation and Emergency Management Systems, is to "improve real-time operation of the transportation system via technology, thereby improving the mobility of travelers and goods." Primarily funded by the New York State DOT (NYS-DOT), the HVTMC is a partnership of agencies, including the state police, bridge authority, thruway authority and Westchester County.
