Cleantech America LLC, San Francisco, Calif., has announced plans for two large-scale photovoltaic solar farms for the Fresno, Calif., area. The first, known as CAL-RENEW-1, is a 5-MW farm for Pacific Gas & Electric Co. (PG&E) scheduled to be in operation in 2008. It will employ a blend of current flat panel and advanced concentrator PV solar, and will be located on 40 acres near PG&E's Mendota, Calif., substation.
