EDWARDS: AFCEE's focus on excellent installations directly contributes to the success of the U.S. Air Force, whose installations are its warfighting platforms. AFCEE supports the focus of Maj. Gen. Timothy A. Byers, F.SAME, USAF, the Air Force Civil Engineer, to build ready engineers, great leaders and sustainable installations. We have six focus areas that encompass the mission the Air Force has entrusted AFCEE to execute. I have made the following our mission priorities: 1.1 environmental stewardship, including restoration at both closed and active bases and environmental compliance; 2.1sustainable design and construction; 3.1 privatized housing and portfolio management-it is our commitment at AFCEE to ensure we provide quality homes for airmen and their families; 4.1 strategic sourcing and flexible contract tools-our goal is to ensure we have the right contract tools in place for what the 5.1Air Force needs today and tomorrow; 6.1 enhanced asset management-AFCEE is looking for ways to maximize the utilization of Air Force assets through technology and other innovation; and 7.1 energy security-AFCEE plays a significant role in its design of Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design-certified buildings.
