USACE ADDRESSES NANTUCKET SOUND WIND ENERGY FACILITY PROPOSAL

After reviewing the Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) and Record of Decision (ROD) on the Cape Wind LLC wind energy facility proposal, to construct 130 wind turbines in Nantucket Sound, Mass. The proposal, which was compiled by the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management, Regulation and Enforcement (BOEMRE), is to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) New England District has made its determination under Section 10/Sec-tion 404 jurisdiction to issue a Corps permit. This represents the largest U.S. offshore wind project to date, projected to generate 400-MW of power.
