Change in SAME Governance

As noted in the Executive Directors column in this edition of TME, I recently chaired a task force to review SAME governance and to recommend changes that would bring SAME and its governance more in line with the Joint Ethics Regulations (JER). At the same time, the Task Force sought to increase the effectiveness of SAME s governance while maintaining the essential interface between SAME and the Engineering Service Chiefs. I had excellent representation of the uniformed services and industry on the task force, including Vice Adm. Mike Loose, USN (Ret.); Maj. Gen. Robert Griffin, USA (Ret.); Rear Adm. Sven Rodenbeck, USPHS; Bill Albro, ANG; Anthony F. "Tony" Leketa, SAME 1st Vice President; Hal Rosen, SAME Counsel; and Dr. Bob Wolff, SAME Executive Director. The following summarizes the necessary changes in our governance model and the rational for doing so, as well as highlights what some of the new benefits will be to SAME and its members.
