The buildings assessed utilize steam for numerous services, including building heat, domestic water heating, humidification, and laundry processes. In general, steam was the largest percentage of the building's overall energy usage. A reduction in steam usage was crucial in minimizing the overall energy used. Measurement and validation was an important step in achieving this reduction.
