Lift and Shift in 2008

The First Naval Construction Regiment (NCR) deployed to Al Anbar Province in August 2008 to provide engineering command and control in support of Multi-National Forces West (MEF FWD). The regiment had mobilized in June to Construction Battalion Center Port Hueneme, Calif. to train and integrate staff into the unit from other reserve Seabee units and individual augments from across the Navy Reserve Force. Arriving in Al Anbar Province, we relieved the 22nd NCR and with Naval Mobile Construction Battalion (NMCB) 7, NMCB 27, the U.S. Army's 9th Engineer Support Battalion, and an Army Bridge Company, and began providing general construction support and convoy security in early September.
