It is in all our interests to avoid a repetition of the sickening attacks mounted on 11th September 2001. As time goes by we naturally become less preoccupied by such threats. However, whilst its true people frequently concentrate on defending themselves against a previous mode of attack at the expense of anticipating assaults of a new kind, a heavily laden airliner remains a formidable potential weapon should it be allowed to fall into the wrong hands. This fact undoubtedly remains in the minds of our terrorist adversaries. It is also a matter of grave concern for national Governments, who must strive to safeguard the majority of their inhabitants on the ground from this potential threat from above. Given that we are the 'meat in the sandwich', it is essential we continue our vigilance to maintain the physical security of our cockpits.
