We all want to function well in the flightdeck. A pilot indifferent to their performance need not apply. We often forget that there is a major biological component to our performance. Those of you who have seen too many sunrises out of the flightdeck windows will testify that tiredness is a biological fact! Do pilots have something in common with sports players? Yes. Our skilled behaviours are difficult to acquire, hard to maintain and are actioned through our physiology. And just like the sports players, we cannot usually say'can I have another go?'! Our performance provides safety, not goals or tries.
