USA Reasserts Pre-eminence in IALD Lighting Design Awards - but Arup Lighting Triumphs for UK

Last year's IALD Lighting Design Awards showed an encouraging shift towards European lighting design - and away from the traditional domination of these US-originated awards by US practices. However, this year's winning schemes, announced in Las Vegas in late May, saw the USA assert itself once again, with US designers taking 13 of the 23 awards, including the Radiance Award for Excellence, for the highest scoring architectural lighting project of the year. This went to Paul Gregory of Focus Lighting in New York for his retail/entertainment project, Tourneau.
