Lighting up Alingsas

Brendan Keely, Associate Lighting Designer at BDP, reports on the annual PLDA workshop for young lighting designers in Alingsas, Sweden.An email arrives in my inbox from Louise Ritter at VIA Publications asking if I will head up a workshop at Lights in Alingsas, 2012. Uhm, let me think... yes I will! Alingsas is about 40 minutes' drive Northeast of Gothenburg - and is known, even by its residents, as the little town of Alingsas. It is also famous for the annual PLDA 'Lights in Alingsas' workshop event, which is in its 13th year. The list of previous workshop heads reads like a 'Who's Who?' of lighting professionals — and on previous occasions, they and their workshop participants have produced something of amazing quality. So no pressure there then.
