Earlier this year the lighting industry entered Stage 2 of the EU Energy-related Products Directive (ErP) which previously looked to the performance requirements for certain fluorescent lamp technologies, but now includes HID lamps and their associated ballasts, as well as improved performance requirements for Stage 1 products. Essentially the Directive details the performance requirements for lamps and effectively removes some technologies, as well as inefficient versions of some lamps and control gear, from the market place.
