Hydrocarbon exploration in a complex incised valley fill: An example from the late Messinian Abu Madi Formation (Nile Delta Basin, Egypt)

Since the early 1960s, when the Nile Delta Basin started to show its potentiality, generations of geologists and geophysicists have applied different concepts and methodologies, keeping pace with the latest available technologies: regional gravity surveys were followed by more and more extended and sophisticated 2-D seismic surveys up to almost routine 3-D acquisition in the 1990s.
