ELI's Annual Award Dinner, held November 8 at the Omni Shoreham Hotel in Washington, D.C., provided an outstanding and memorable occasion for more than 700 members of the environmental profession. ELI honored the city of New York with the 2012 ELI Award for Achievement in Environmental Law, Policy, and Management. Under Mayor Michael Bloomberg's leadership, the city has set an outstanding example for the smart cities of the future. ELI honored Mayor Bloomberg and the city of New York for bringing together business and environmental leaders and showing the way to a sustainable future for the world's megacities.
