Citroeen is perhaps not the driver of innovation, but it is certainly a company renowned for bringing ground-breaking auto technology to the masses. Now, with its all signing, all dancing C4, the French manufacturer has continued a tradition of bringing innovative motoring into the mainstream writes DANIEL ATWOOD. The mid-size C4 has arrived in the midst of a fierce battle for dominance of the family hatch market. The trusty trio of the Golf, Focus and Astra remain in all out combat as they vie for buyers' attention during Ireland's peak car selling period. So Citroeen, which has been wandering directionless in the family hatch wilderness for years with its uninspiring Xsara, needed to unveil something very special at the Paris motorshow last year. It did, and the motoring world began to realise that the new direction taken by Citroeen was about to deliver its best design yet. The C4 is in reality two cars - a five-door family hatchback and a more sporting three-door coupe.
