Students minus higher level maths equals no knowledge economy

President Engineers Ireland While astronaut Eileen Collins last month sought to inspire every youngster in the country to realise how competence in maths could take them to the stars — literally, a difficult higher-level Maths Paper Ⅱ generated cries of "foul" from students, parents and teachers alike. The study of Maths, and the need to increase the number of students taking the subject at higher-level in our secondary schools, is too important an issue to languish between these emotional extremes.
