Cut your energy costs

The Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland has announced the further expansion of the Accelerated Capital Allowances (ACA) scheme. The ACA is a tax incentive scheme for energy efficient equipment first introduced in the Finance Act 2008. The scheme offers businesses investing in such equipment a double benefit of recurring energy savings and an up-front tax incentive. Under the ACA scheme, when money is spent on eligible energy efficient capital equipment, the company can deduct the full cost of this equipment from their profits in the year of purchase (rather than over the normal eight years), i.e., the taxable profit in year one is reduced by the full cost of the equipment.
