Rian Edman, MIEI, Cork Institute of Technology received the prestigious Babcock Award as the Best European Mechanical Engineering Student 2011 at the European Science Engineering and Technology (SET) Award Finals recently. Rian hails from Raleigh, Macroom, Co. Cork. His ground-breaking SET short-listing was based on his submission of a 2,000 word essay based on his final year project and a 500 word academic and personal citation submitted by senior lecturer, Sean F. O'Leary. Rian is to graduate in November 2011 with a Bachelor of Engineering (Level 8) First Class Honours Degree in Mechanical Engineering at Cork Institute of Technology.
