Since the opening of the Brinny plant in 1986, the company has always taken pride in seeking new ways to stimulate, develop and inspire its employees. Gerard Dunne, process engineer and Donal Kelleher, MIEI, manager - engineering projects at Brinny, outline the technical detail and utilisation of on-site expertise to complete a recent project within a sterile filling suite The existing process involved the tranferral of empty vials between the depyrogenation tunnel and the filling machine using battery operated laminar flow transport carts in the sterile manufacturing suite. This method of transferring vials consumed a significant amount of manpower resources and significantly lenghtened the duration of overall batch production times. The project undertaken to improve this method utilised colleague innnovation and expertise within Brinny.
