EXPLOSIVE INTEREST IN SAFETY

The seminar, attended by over 70 del- egates, was organised to inform industry of proposed safety legislation. David Eardley of the EU Commission DG Enterprise, the keynote speaker, updated the delegates on the current status of the ATEX directive and developments in the area. Among other items the concept of 'putting into service' and what happens to user owned stocks of non ATEX equipment was discussed. The application of the directive in candidate countries was also discussed. The EU Commission website was identified as an excellent source of information regarding the ATEX product directive.
