Changing of packaging for hygroscopic powder -Changing of packaging specifications from 18 L can to corrugated fiberboard-

We are involved in production and packaging of a variety of products including seasonings, medical supplies, and petrochemical products. Particularly for the design of packaging materials for powder products which are highly hygro- scopic and are exported to many foreign countries, metallic containers have been often used for the features of moistureproofing and strength during the physical distribution. However, environmental protection has become one of our greatest concern, and wastes disposal also is subjected to tight control and expensive. In this trend. we are requested by the company B, one of our domestic users, to change the speci- fications of the current packaging style using 18 L can. This change is reportedly due to difficult stocking and disposal of used cans for disposal of packaging wastes, and troublesome opening dur- ing the use. In response to the request. we have carried out evaluation tests in terms of various factors, aim- ing to adopt corrugated fiberboard boxes based on barrier plastic films as an alternative to the l8 L can packaging material. Then. we have successfully implemented the changing of specifications from 18 L can for hygroscopic powder. The report below covers selection of inner bag, outer bag, and external box, procedures for evaluation. and tests and results of evaluation.
