I hope the correspondence about the Severn Barrage is not closed.rnThere must be much that has been learned from the environmental effect of the nearby Cardiff Bay impoundment that is applicable to the Severn schemes; perhaps you could report on these environmental issues.rnI do not see why there is such emphasis on the Severn Barrage schemes. Surely it would be much more sensible to impound the Solent with a short barrage at each end of the Isle of Wight?rnThe double tides would smooth the power-generation fluctuation and the barrages would provide road and rail links.
