In an agreement that could lead to substantial new opportunities to develop and deploy technologies to combat climate change, Duke Energy announced Monday it has signed a memorandum of understanding with China Huaneng Group, China's largest utility, to explore a variety of renewable, clean-coal and other technologies. Signed in Beijing, the MOU calls for top executives from the two utilities to launch a series of meeting to exchange information and explore potential long-term cooperation initiatives to reduce emissions from coal-fired power plants and to develop other renewable sources of electricity.
