Babcock & Wilcox Co. announced Wednesday that it has signed a contract to build two 1,000 megawatt ultra-supercritical coal-fired boilers for a large power plant project in China's Zhejiang province.rnBabcock & Wilcox Beijing Co. Ltd. (BWBC) is a joint venture between Babcock & Wilcox Power Generation Group Inc. (B&W PGG) and Beijing Jingcheng Machinery Electric Holding Co. Ltd.rnThe two boilers-the first to be built in China-use one of B&W's most advanced coal-fired boiler designs. The ultra-supercritical design-which creates higher boiler pressure and temperature than conventional designs-provides increased energy output and lower emissions per unit of fuel compared to sub-critical boilers, the company said.
