The fifth annual sustainability report from the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders shows falling environmental impacts from the sector, including an impressive 56% reduction in waste generation per vehicle in 2003. However, a report into resource use within the industry calls for a more strategic approach to address impacts across the vehicle life cycle. Peugeot Citroen and engine manufacturer Powertrain are the latest companies to be included in the SMMT's annual sector sustainability report.
