An EU law requiring tyres to display an energy efficiency label has come into force. The scheme applies to new tyres for passenger cars and light commercial vehicles, lorries and buses. It does not apply to racing, professional off-road, retreaded or motorbike tyres.1 Fuel efficiency is rated from A to G, with A being the best performers and G the worst. Each grade means a reduction or increase in fuel use of 2.5-4.5%.
