The environmental impact of making and running electric vehicles may be higher than expected research says. The environmental impact of electric vehi cles (EVs) depends on the carbon intensity of the electricity used to power them, two studies have shown. Researchers at the Norwegian Univer sity of Science and Technology compared the production, usage and disposal costs of cars with internal combustion engines and electric batteries.
