Government suggests upping fees to curtail judicial review claims

The government has proposed shorter time limits and higher fees for launching judicial reviews in an attempt to reduce the number of claims. Shorter time limits for launching judicial review of planning decisions and higher fees for all claims are proposed for England and Wales by the Ministry of Justice (MoJ). The proposals fulfil prime minister David Cameron's promise, made in a November speech to the Confederation of British Industry (CBI), to crack down on barriers to growth caused by the "massive growth industry" in legal challenges.
