DCLG ditches consequential improvements

Cutting an evidence-based measure vital to the growth of the Green Deal has left the communities department's low-carbon policies in disarray. An energy efficiency improvement condition for large extensions and refurbish-ments to homes has been dropped by the communities department (DCLG) despite support from the public and Green Deal stakeholders. The measures were part of proposals for upgrading Part L (Conservation of fuel and power) of Building Regulations 2010 published in January 2012 (ENDS Report 445. P 45), due to take effect from 2013.
